Because vectors are math, not pixels, they can be scaled up or down to any size with zero loss in quality. This is why print shops love vector logos and text. Raster files are made of pixels, like photographs. Formats such as .jpg, .png, and .psd are raster. Raster art can look great, but only if it starts at a high enough resolution. If you enlarge a small raster image, you are stretching a fixed number of pixels, and the result gets soft or blocky.

The safe margin is an inner boundary, typically kept about one eighth of an inch inside the cut line, where you should keep all important text, logos, and details. Anything placed right at the cut line risks being trimmed off if the cut shifts even slightly.
